Hello there, it’s finally time we dip our toes in the water and get a little bit wet. As you may know, the previously long-running publication of the Image Arts Photography Media program titled Function Magazine ceased existence with its 26th issue in April 2024. What you are reading now is issue #0.5 of Calibrator Magazine. This little edition is a test run for us and an aperitif for you.
The title of the issue, A Foot Out of the Door, is representative of the place many of us find ourselves in with our fledgling artistic careers. The same place this magazine is in now. The joy in only having taken one step is that you can still go in any direction.
Our goal with Calibrator is to take stock of where we in the Image Arts community are as creatives; to try and piece together a visual throughline that connects our disparate practices. Such a feat could not be achieved without the participation and engagement of our fellow students, to whom we are eternally grateful.
